1. Do you believe that the laws in the United States have as their origin Biblical ethical truths?

Comment: I believe the U. S. Constitution was formed to reflect the “Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God.”  That is why the image of the Ten Commandments is considered the symbol of laws.  The constitutions of the states are modeled after the U.S. Constitution.

2. Do you believe that oughtness (what ought to be) in ethics has its origin in what God has said in the Bible?

Comment: I believe the precepts of morality come from the Bible.

5. Do you believe that marriage is solely the union between one man and one woman exclusively?

Comment: In Texas, Art. 1 of the Bill of Rights defines marriage as consisting only of the union of one man and one woman.  Because it is possible that an issue may come before the Court of Appeals regarding same sex marriage, relationships or  partnerships, I am prohibited from discussing my personal beliefs on this issue pursuant to the Texas Code of Judicial Conduct.

6. Do you believe in utilizing the organic documents (those contemporary to, and by the authors of the Constitution and its amendments) in interpreting what the authors of the Constitution and its amendments actually meant?

7. Do you believe that the court must interpret the laws of the United States and subdivisions thereof, by a straightforward reading of the Constitution and its amendments?

Comment: When interpreting the Constitution, I believe you must consider the context (or the text as a whole) and apply the natural or understood meaning of the language used..
